Abstract

Treatment of 1-benzotellurepines (1) with t-BuLi in the presence of TMEDA in ether followed by addition of a metal reagent (Cl₂SnBu₂, Cl₂SbPh and Cl₂SiMe₂) afforded the corresponding 1-benzostannepines (4), 1-benzostibepines (5) and 1-benzosilepines (6), respectively, in one pot via the tellurium - lithium exchange.
